At NAGC, we believe that the opportunity for children to pursue a passion for learning or creating should not depend on luck, income, race/ethnicity, or zip code. The failure to help gifted CLED students cultivate their abilities is an immeasurable waste of personal potential and human capital. Our objective is to raise awareness, gain partners, and discuss action to help ensure that all students who are capable of advanced learning (1) are prepared for, (2) have access to, and (3) feel ownership in advanced programs, from pre-K through higher education. This gathering is our first effort to gather educators, business leaders, policymakers, and change agents who are invested in the lives of culturally, linguistically, and economically diverse students to engage in conversation about strategies to address the many factors contributing to the “Excellence Gap” in access and opportunity for advanced learning.
