Presenters: Dr. Jagmeet Kanwal Dr. Kanwal is an associate professor in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics and a founding member of the Institute for Cognitive and Computational Sciences. During his tenure at Georgetown, his research laboratory has focused on bats, zebrafish, nonhuman primates, and human subjects to understand neural coding and brain mechanisms underlying auditory processing (speech, music and nonverbal sounds) and socio-emotional communication. He directs the laboratory for Auditory Communication, Cognition and Decision-making at Georgetown University. Dr. Kanwal is an internationally recognized neuroethologist. He uses interdisciplinary approaches to understand the functional organization of the brain from the viewpoint of behavior. Matthew Jaskol Matthew Jaskol founded Pioneer Academics in 2012 with the intent of offering deep intellectual exploration to gifted high school students. Empowering gifted 9th~12th graders to conduct college-level research, Pioneer is respected for its selectivity and rigor.
